We’re excited to share that our AI research has been officially approved as a master thesis topic at Ghent University (UGent). šŸš€

Our proposal ā€œAI-driven interior combinations using computer vision and machine learningā€Ā will be included in UGent’s thesis pool for the academic year 2026–2027.

The research aims to develop an algorithm that can recognise aesthetic harmonyĀ in interior design: matching furniture and decoration not just by filters like color or material, but by how well they actually look together. Using computer vision, similarity learning, and multimodal embeddings, the project will explore how AI can learn from thousands of product images and metadata to make smarter, more inspiring design recommendations.

This collaboration is an important step for Furnipop:

  • šŸŽÆ Academic relevance: pushing state-of-the-art AI into a creative, real-world domain.

  • šŸ›‹ļø Practical impact: applying research directly on our live dataset and platform.

  • šŸ¤ Bridge between academia and startup innovation.

We’re proud that UGent sees the potential in bringing together AI, interior design and user experience. We can’t wait to see how a motivated student will bring fresh perspectives to our mission.

Stay tuned — the thesis track officially opens in February 2026.
